Phase 1 – Project Plan: Students will connect with the organization representative(s) to understand the problem being faced, ask questions, receive resources/information needed to complete the project.
Phase 2 – Project Concept: Students will present high-level features of their proposed ideas as well as a general idea of the potential market for it. The product concept presentation will be equivalent to a GO/ No GO presentation in business. The report will include; introduction, an overview of the idea’s main features, a rough mock of the idea (if applicable), an overview of the potential for commercialization (or implementation in the business), conclusion explaining why the team should be allowed to pursue the project. The team will then present the report with a 10-15 minute Q & A session at the end.
Phase 3 – Project Outcome: Students will finalize research and develop a business plan to be presented to your organization. The business plan will be approx. 20-30 pages with a presentation at a maximum of 25-minutes. There will be a 10-minute Q & A session as the end. The business plan will include:
- Executive summary
- Market analysis including competition
- A clear description of the innovation, including main features and, if applicable, schematics
- The business concept
- Project goals and objectives
- Project risks
- Implementation and operations (including resources needed)
- Financial plan (5-years)
- The executive team (likely team members) taking charge of important aspects of the business

Exemples de projets
Starting in February, student-consultants studying innovation will tackle a challenge your company is facing. They will first present a high-level overview along with the potential market for their proposed ideas. After completion of the project concept, they will finalize research and develop a business plan to be presented to your organization. From this, you will receive an objective look at one of your problems and receive recommendations for moving forward.
Project examples could include, but are not limited to:
- Development of new products and services from creation to commercialization for competitive advantage and Lean startups.
- Service Innovation
- Developing a marketing or sales strategy
- Process innovation and productivity improvement
- New Product Development Process
- Innovation in the entrepreneurial context: new ventures, internal corporate ventures, alliances, and intellectual property management
- Structure, leadership and organizational culture in the management of innovation
- Anything creativity wise our students would love to tackle
