Innovative Materials Design Experience

This experience focuses on empowering learners to apply their knowledge of materials engineering to real-world design projects. Learners will engage in comprehensive feasibility studies and detailed materials design, considering factors such as cost, safety, and environmental impact. By synthesizing technical knowledge and exercising critical thinking, learners will be equipped to tackle complex materials-based challenges and deliver innovative solutions that meet industry standards.
Strategic Economic Decision-Making for Business Projects
BUEC 503 / BUEC 501 (lecture 800)
This experience is designed for learners equipped with a solid foundation in economic principles, focusing on microeconomic analysis and strategic decision-making. Participants will apply their understanding of market behavior, firm strategy, and government policy to real-world business challenges. By engaging with projects that require economic analysis and strategic planning, learners will enhance their ability to evaluate market structures, assess government policy impacts, and interpret macroeconomic trends. This practical application will prepare them to tackle industry-specific issues, such as pricing strategies, market entry, and sustainability initiatives. Please note that this course runs asynchronously, with recorded sessions and no in-person classes. Students will be expected to apply the processes they’ve learned independently throughout the course.
Energy Market Dynamics and Strategic Analysis

This experience is designed to bridge the gap between academic understanding and practical application in the energy sector. Learners will gain insights into the complexities of energy markets, focusing on the interplay between economic principles and environmental policies. By applying their knowledge of energy demand, supply, and market design, learners will be equipped to tackle real-world challenges faced by the energy industry. The experience emphasizes strategic analysis and decision-making, preparing learners to contribute to projects that address energy security, sustainability, and affordability. Our students work with data and perform data analysis, they also discuss and strategize policy for energy industries and markets. Students apply concepts from economics within performance operation within energy industry.
Business Analytics Consulting Project
OM 468
Beginning in January, a team of 3-4 Student Consultants will dedicate 400+ hours working as a consulting team for your organization. They are in their 4th year of the Operations Management program at the Alberta School of Business. Their expertise is in data analytics and operations management. Based on the information and goals you provide, the group will develop solutions and recommendations to solve your analytical challenge. This is a paid opportunity with a cost estimated between $5000 and $7000 (per team). The fee can be waived for a non-profit organization.
