Course Description: This course is an introduction to management information systems, the five components to MIS, and their strategic role in supporting management activities. Topics include: role of information systems in business; fundamentals of information technology - hardware, software, communication and computer networks, databases and enterprise systems; ethical issues in the information age, as well as issues of globalization, social impact, privacy, and security. In order for management information systems to provide management with a competitive advantage; it is crucial that a full SWOT analysis be performed and a business strategy to be identified.
